The other day, we were staying in Colorado with a neat couple. We exchanged stories of traveling and such. A man told us that he went to Haiti with the Salvation Army of the United States. He helped with construction and connected with the families there. It sounded like such a fulfilling experience doing God's work on the front lines of need. But the problem, he told us, was that he got into trouble a couple times.See the thing is, the Salvation Army is not the only group of people helping in Haiti. This should be a good thing. The Canadian Red Cross have people helping in Haiti along with a couple other organizations from different countries. The way this is organized is that Haiti is basically carved out into sections and each organization has a plot of land they help with. The reason this man got into trouble was because he was from the Salvation Army and crossed over another organization's line and helped out some families there. Now I'm not saying that this is a bad system of org...

Stuck in the feed lot.

Hello from Sunny California. The current temperature is 74 degrees and Captive Free West Coast enjoyed a morning of outdoor meetings and meals poolside at Tricia Booser's (a Youth Encounter staff member) parents house. And as beautiful as it is now that we're here, I've been reflecting on where we've been so far on our journey. One place i remember distinctly is Kansas and Texas along Highway 54 and Interstate 40.Now It was not only the scenery but also the smell. I've been through Wisconsin a hundred times in the summer when the farming smell is pretty potent, but I've never smelled anything like i have along this stretch of road. But the part that irked me the most was what we saw. Lots of deserted towns and particularly the "wide open spaces" that happened to be filled with feed lots. In case you've never seen a feed lot, it looks like the picture i've attached to this blog. It's miles and miles of cows put in to very small spaces to eat and get "fattened" so that we Americans can e...

Fall Ministry Highlights

After 13 states so far I have experienced God's presence in the ministry thanks to prayers. My team and I have been traveling in various states to minister in pre-schools, primary schools, colleges, nursing homes and we have been leading services on some Sundays. We spread the Good News of Jesus-Christ and shared his love. We believe that God is working the make the seeds grow and that is what happen!!! We have been to the Event in Seattle, Washington and it was a blessing for me to be part of my first Event in US. And there, I met many young people who invited me several to have food with them and know me and my culture and my faith more. It was amazing to... Drumming is one of my favorite activities during the the fall ministry... My team mates are really helping to be focused spiritually and culturally. The host families are great, the food variety is amazing and good. I thanks God for not having food troubles...The weather is time to time changing like driving me in the different t...

Better Late Than Never

We've been on the road for two months now and I have yet to post a blog. Oops.... To my defense, I couldn't figure out how to do it on my iPad. Haha. I never realized how much I would miss my laptop from my college. I go to Northern Michigan University where they give you a laptop, but now that I'm not going to school there... no laptop for me. Anyway, this post is about My time on the road, so let's jump right in!It's really something, you know, living day today without a familiar destination or familiar situation. Being on team is like a life where things are never the same twice. Usually we never go to the same place twice, or meet the same people twice, or use the same shower twice (no two work the same, I swear!).But there are a few things that seem to happen twice or more...
